Its been quite a few years since I messed with a magneto and I simply cannot remember how the rotor which carries the contact breaker on an Mo1 magneto detaches.
I have removed the points and both hex head screws, but rotor does not release and I am shy of using any effort on it not knowing how it locates on the mags spindle.
I've searcched and looked in old handbooks but cannot find the info I need. Its as if, its so simple and obvious, nobody ever mentions it.

Re: magneto rotor removal
If you use Google and search for Lucas MO1 there are several videos showing the magneto being stripped down. I've no desire to strip a magneto but it all looks pretty straightforward.
Re: magneto rotor removal
I googled for this last night. None of the ones I saw dealt with this triffling detali !
They all focused on "how to change the condenser" or "how to fix the bearings" no mention of "how to get in there".
All I want to do is change the end housing of the mag to change it from Tight wire advance to slack wire advance.

Re: magneto rotor removal
The magneto shaft has a hollow taper and a cut-out notch. The points assembly locates with the notch and is pulled in with the central screw that connects with the condenser.
I have rebuilt a number of M01 mags . . . But I had to go and look (old age) .
Probably stuck with old oil/grease/dirt mix !

Thanks.
I found what I needed this morning.
Copy of the relevant Lucas manual.
It just pulls off, they said. Its been on there a few years and did not feel llike that. But armed with the knowledge and a bit of heat and good pull, and off it came.
