Will
Keen eyes spotting the hydraulic front brake and two GW 'Manors' (and the second one is Odney)!
The brake has the BMC Mini steel brakeplate and a chunky piece of steel pipe as a spacer, it works well but it's really weighted up the steering - at some point there are going to be some big holes drilled and maybe some hacksawing...

Why strap to the seat and not the rack? Putting extra weight right out back really messes up my finely-tuned handling (apart from which, my bungees work much better using the seat than with the rack ;) )

I'm currently reading this:

Fascinating tale of old rivalries and life on the footplate. It's about a fiver on Kindle.

it seems that the riding season is at the end and now we will have a period of renovation of new projects. I'm looking forward to it. Photos from the summer always give me new strength to continue working.

Happy days, the Gasson clan, early days of the GWS at Didcot . . .

Leighton Hall was a proper GWR engine as the two Manors at Minehead were
both built by BR in the early '50s. The photo is late on in its life. probably at Oxford
about to take over a Banbury-bound express form the Southern Region.
There are electrification flashes on the boiler sides and I hope it was
a nice warm day as there are no steam heating pipes fitted. Finally
the front coupling is nice and tidy on its hook and not dangling.

The works of A E (Ted) Abear are worth reading too.
