He has nice keep warm clobber. Don't recognize the primary cover. Looks a little odd.

Thanks for showing Michael, really nice period picture with your wife's uncle.
It's been colored in and some retouching has been done, that's why the chaincase looks different but I think it is the steel type.

Would a RAF bike be in green or blue ?

from what I understand ALL bikes are finished and delivered, in the same colour by the manufacturers (bronze green for early war, brown for mid-war and then olive drab for late war). Seems some debate on the precise colour .. but from what I understand it varies by manufacturer and paint batch.

I don't believe the Navy or the RAF, then repainted their machines.

Before and after the war they where blue as far as I know.
But possibly during the early stages of the war some of the motorcycles where still blue but that got changed.
Not that I know for sure, as was not there !

I'm not sure about the whole bikes colour but I have some NOS switches and ammeter in the original navy coloured panel for the headlamp. It's never been repainted. Nev
