Paul (slootheer) and vincent were looking into creating something for the WNG.

I created this section of the forum and I also put together a website framework;
http://www.arielownersmcc.com/wng/

So we're ready to go ...

However. The devil, in all this, is in the time and knowledge required to create and maintain the content.

John/Steven,
Where still working on it. But I'am affraid this will take more time as we expected. Vincent allready got a huge pile of W/NG photographs, but they must be come along with the right text, a proper intro text etc. I also asked Andy Tiernan if I may use his pictures of sold W/NG (also because of frame and engine numbers!) and he's given me approval for it if we mention the source.
The fact we (read: I...) can to some degree express our selves in proper English but not realy are that good makes me a bit hesitate. (Vincent I'am speaking for myself on this one...) We are (still) working on it, hope we can succeed!
Regards, Paul

I'm happy to help write some text - I'm no W/NG expert but I've written a few magazine articles and I have a book in the works...
cheers

Simon,
I'am sure it will help if you can help to edit ‘rough’ text into fluent proper English.
Although I have a 1940 W/NG which I acquired a couple of months ago I'am also not a W/NG specialist. The whole idea started a few months ago when I contacted John Nash to see wat his thoughts where about the subject W/NG and more specific to find information about this machine on one central place. That's why John for a start made topic a on the AOMCC forum. And I made a mock-up how one and another maybe should look like.
Meanwhile it shows there's certainly interest concerning the forum topic. However I'ts unclear if that will be the same concerning a dedicated website. In my opinion I think it would be interesting to share more data on one place like a website. Vincent van Ginneke, who on this moment is restoring a RAF W/NG, showed also interest. He collected quite some W/NG photographs etc. I'am sure in time it can grow and become a source of interesting data, photographs and so on.

The one thing remains: how difficult is it to maintain a website from a technical point of view and will there be enough data supply from W/NG owners who are willing to share photographs, frame and engine numbers etc. on a level compared with the WD BSA M20 and the WD Matchless/AJS etc. sites?

Regards, Paul

Ah, I should react now....
Yes, I have plans to write a sort of introduction to the W/NG.
I'll try not to duplicate to much what has already been written but come up with a -short?- review on the W/NG.
Main line in the story -I think- could be how the W/NG models are looked upon today and the increasing interest in them.
I have bought a CD from Henk Joore that contains about 60 pictures with war time Ariels.
The whole CD has about 3000 files, mostly BSA and other war time bikes.
But the only info with the Ariel pictures is the name with the pic, so not much.
I would like to have people add comment to these pics, (or any other picture with W/NG's) as I am sure there are experts out there who can.
So.... what to do? shall I start sending the pictures straight to this forum?
as a teaser here are a few...!

Posting up, and commenting on, pictures to a website can be fairly time consuming.
There are image packages that allow everyone to do this, and everyone to comment, like I have put in place for the AOMCC:

http://www.arielownersmcc.com/members ... /index.php

(note: This implementation doesn't require an account to post into existing directories or comment BUT it's already behind the AOMCC user/password)

The problem with allowing anyone, publically to post stuff up is the amount of spam that could happen.
This is why forums have captcha and question/answer during registration AND admins to clear up the inevitable mess.
