Can somebody let me know the width of the handlebars for a w'ng I think I have the wrong bars on mine

Graham, as far as I know the diameter should be 1'' in the middle (at the clamps) and > 7/8" at the ends, so the handlebar is conical/tapered.
Or did you mean the lenght/width of the handlebar in total, did they became shortened? If so it won't be easy to find tapered one I think.

Paul I know the early rubber mounted bars were I" in the centre and my bars are standard 7/8" it's the width end to end I want I think mine are to narrow.

Hello Graham, a few pictures from my W/NG handlebar.
It measures 74 cm in witdh and the lenght of the tube itself is about 83 cm material wise.
Straight bits where the rubbers go is 19cm in the middle it is 13.5cm.
The tapering happens between the two curves .
Other pic shows my Nov.45 NG with a 7/8 handlebar and a sleeve (two halves) to make it 1" at the clamp.
I think this is Original.
(pictures taken with my Phone Always seem to end upsidedown...)

I have, what I believe are, original later bars fitted to my late WNG.
They are 7/8th all the way along and have a sleeve for the clamps. The sleeve is exactly the same as in Vincent's pics above.

They are not available commercially (that we can find ..).
So as my mate Wayne and I both have later WNG's (my other WNG is still in bits), we are going to get my bars copied.
Wayne has found someone in Cheltenham (UK), where he lives, to do this.

Not sure of the cost but it wasn't going to be a "get some made to sell" thing ...
however if there a demand for these ... they'd probably in steel. How much would people pay ?

Dont know if this is of any help but Jake Robbins retubed the fork from my W/NG.
He had double tapered tubes made by someone, but who ?
While spraying them some lettering appeared, not visisble before,odd, does this code mean something to you ?

A bit off-topic but the 1931 Panther I'm restoring would originally have had "Sackville" bars - which seem to be unobtainable now. I'd like to get a set made (7/8" without any fancy thicker bits).

If you could pass on the contact details I'd be grateful .

I have a suggestion. The earlier forks have rubber mounts with a small grub screw to stop them turning.
Later they had the type shown with no rubber mount and I believe still tapered but with no grub screw needed because of the way they are gripped, it's not required.
Because the tapered bars are such a work of art and no doubt costly, the 5/8'' bars were used with the tube reinforcement later as John says. Nev
