Earlier longer grip

Post by john.nash »

This came with an wng project.

I am using 7/8" bars with the two shims in the fork clamp ( the damper is deleted so likely correct).

The throttle tube is 7/8" but the clamp is 1" ?
Is this how they were originally for the tapered bars ?

I'll have to shim the clamp bit, to fit the 7/8" bars, and find/make the insert for the cable .

Shown next to a standard later tube. The cable bit is brass.

John,
Lucky chap, those long throttles are quite rare.

The bars were 7/8" from the end of the taper so I think you just have a mis-matched 1" twistgrip 'body' with your 7/8" twistgrip.

This pic shows that, although the wrong size, the body you have is the correct style. I should think you will be able to pick up a 7/8" Amal body as that size is quite common.
