What is this?

Post by EricBorg »

Hello all,
Could someone please explain what are the 2 items I’ve marked.
Don’t have either on my WNG and was wondering if I need them.
Many thanks.

The sleeve on the HT lead is (I think) just there to insulate it from the heat of the cylinder head.

The other thing (blue arrow) is a bit of a mystery . . . But there used to be a "Spark Enhancer" sold back in the 50s/60s that added a gap which was supposed to increase the high tension charge and give a bigger spark (!).

On the other hand it could be a suppressor to prevent radio interference - which is a No-No with a magneto.

I don't think you'd miss it ;) .

Bob.

Throw them a way fast it will damage your magneto.

HI on a bike or car with a mag DO NOT USE suppressed leeds or plug cap or a resistance spark plug or spark booster it will nacker :!: your mag just use copper leeds and a non resistance plug cap and plug with no R in the letters or numbers on the spark plug and you will be ok
