War Horse rides again!

Post by jim.haydock »

Just a few pictures of my 1940 W/NG that I bought as a restoration project back in December 2018. It had to wait its place in the que but was finally started in March 2020 as yet another lockdown project. Thanks to all in the AOMCC for the help along the way and particular thanks to Pete Kemp for allowing me to get started when lockdown began.

The numbers on the tank were discovered by the previous owner as he'd made a start by part restoring the petrol tank, found the numbers under the old paint and taken a tracing. The contract plate on the rear mudguard was discovered as I made a start on restoring the very badly rust eaten rear mudguard. I'm hoping that the 670 miles shown on the speedo is correct and certainly the engine was in good nick when I stripped it with little or nothing caught in the sludge trap and no discernible wear on the bore.
