Rigid lower chain guard

Post by alan.moore »

Does anyone have access to the Ariel drawing for the lower chain guard 5722-36 as I need to make one for the VH.

Thanks
Alan

I remember Simon who turned a plunger frame lower guard a rigid one. If I remember correctly the only difference is the rear mounting bracket. If you want I can give you dimensions of mine from the vha. Or you can borrow it to make yours. You will just have to put the rear bracket in the correct place for your frame.

This is on Ebay at the moment - looks sort of Ariel-like.

Might be a starting point for making one?

I'm sure that's Ariel - front mount is missing.

Cheers chaps, I think i'll wait and see if the club has the drawing or I will ask for dimensions of a rigid one here. Looks a fairly simple bending exercise ans Simon's website article is really useful....thanks.

Drawing number E9/422A is available from the club price £5 as a high quality pdf. Contact the mem sec (me)
Drags are out of stock but I believe a new batch is in the pipeline.

I saw in Cheval that the works drawings had been digitised and were going to be made avialable but didn't realise club members had to pay £5 to get a copy. :o

This afternoon using the excellent post on Simons blog, a scaled photo from Drags website, an old computer case, an old shelf bracket and a length of wood I have managed to produce, what I think is, a reasonable version of a VH rigid lower chainguard.
