Cam follower reprofile

Post by Adz.F »

Can anyone please advise on the below pictures of the cam followers from my 45 w/ng engine please? They have wear which will need correcting, could they be reprofiled or do they need to be built up and reground?

Appreciate these can be purchased as replacements if required and if this is the case I will do so!

On previous engines with a different design of follower it was possible to have the profile reground providing a minimum remaining thickness of pad was left.

Many thanks in advance

Adam

These followers are a problem to build up and grind when they become very thin. Yours appear to be OK and would be acceptable as exchange items.

Adz - Ariel singles followers don't usually get re-ground without being built up first, I suspect they're not through- (or deep-) hardened.
Buy new or (as Roger advises) exchange for a set that have already been done. Unless you fancy a bit of welding-up and re-profiling yourself!
