I put my '56 bike up for sale and two interested parties have both asked why it has chromed fork sleeves.
My answer was- 'cos that's what it came with - but I have no knowledge of whether this was standard on U.S. export models, an optional extra or whether there was a 'de-luxe' model. They look original but I can't be certain.
Any thoughts much appreciated.
Thanks,
Bernie

Re: SQ4 Deluxe??
It definitely isn't standard but it was not unknown for US dealers and sometimes the importers to add a bit of bling to increase the appeal to the North American market. Whether you consider that to be original or not can be discussed but unless specifically requested at the time of ordering it will not be how it left Selly Oak. Send me your engine and frame numbers and I will have a look, send pm or email to membership@arielownersmcc.com if you prefer. I leave for a Scottish tour on Friday so be quick.
