VB600: Burman G107 H51 x G49D48

Post by Luiz.Spegiorin »

I´m under a project to restore an Ariel VB600/1951, but the gearbox I have is a Burman G49D48, as I suppose, belong to a Square Four 1948, and besides, I´m not sure if it fits my VB, despite alignment and relation. Could it be possible to assemble this gearbox in my VB600?

Another question:
I found a gearbox Burman G107 H51, as I suppose, is the correct one for my VB600 1951, but it has another subscription stamped near, "c 500".
Could it be part off a VH500? Does it make any difference for my motorcicle?

Wich one could be the best for my project?
Both????
G49D48 coul be?
G107 H51 is a correct one?

Best regards.

G107 will be perfect (there's no difference between the boxes for the VB and the VG/VH, and I don't think 'c 500' has any reference to a bike model anyway)

The Square 4 box probably has differently positioned mounting lugs (for different chain lines), a different mainshaft and some different internals. I'd suggest you move it on to someone with a Square 4! ;)
