Page 108 of Dave Barkshire's Black Ariels book suggests that the maximum load for a 1929 ohv machine was 8 men. This may not help, but I can't think of another maximum load reference in the Archives.

For future reference, the maximum permitted loaded weight for the NH is 345 Kg. At least in Germany according to registration papers for an NH kindly provided by Markus Nikot. Anyway, I managed to get through the German MOT now 8-)
