Extra oil feed hole on Square Four big ends?
It has been suggested to me that drilling though the big end oil feed hole right through the crankpin (so as to have two oil feed holes, 180 degrees apart, on each crankpin) is a good idea. I must say that I am sceptical, but can anyone please confirm?

I doubt it will weaken the crank much and may lessen the risk of sludge build-up in the oil hole.
When I put mine together I used a shallow curved file (not sure of the technical term) to give a slight relief either side of the oil hole (not very wide). This was to give a wider spread of pressured oil under the shell. It seemed to work well

Bob, if I recall correctly that was a factory mod to enlarge the hole to an oval shape. Certainly on rhe KH

My opinion is that drilling a second hole will halve the amount of sludge you can trap before you need to clean it/blow it up.

Some interesting replies, gentlemen - thank you.
The fact that carrying out this modification does not seem to be a recognised or popular practice, I think that I'll leave well alone!
