Petrol tank taps
These pesky things just will not work right for me. The cork shrinks with the ethanol and I cannot get the rubber replacements just right. Are there a better type that will suit the original threads in the tank and match up with the rigid pipe unions?
Advice welcome

Re: Petrol tank taps
I use Draganfly's neoprene seal instead of a cork on the original-style plungers. I have no leaks.

And like John R., I can't get these to work for me (despite trying all the advised tricks and tweaks)volker.halbach wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 2:22 pm I use Draganfly's neoprene seal instead of a cork on the original-style plungers. I have no leaks.

Re: Petrol tank taps
I think in the original instructions they recommend slicing the seals open for fitting. Instead of doing this, I punched out the spindle from the knob. I also have an older plunger where the spindle is screwed in. Of course, with such a plunger it's even easier.
The seals are tapered with the smaller diameter going in first. When reducing the diameter of the seal, make sure not to grind away the taper.

Re: Petrol tank taps
Thanks you for the responses.
Presently I have cork seals fashioned from champagne corks, better than the rubber and original cork but time will tell.
I will purchase one of those "Feked" taps and try to make it work.
Regards
John

Re: Petrol tank taps
I've just fitted one of these

Unfortunately (and what you can't see from the photos) the lever uses a really small diameter 'rod' into the tap body, I think you could actually bend it with heavy use by a gloved hand, I've bent it once already before I realised it need extra care.
Also it needs an adapter for the tank and I've lost the reserve option (and it was a fiddle to fit into the adapter as it seems to have a metric hex on the tap). However, it doesn't drip so we'll see how it long it survives.
