Did you know that you can make a "vehicle enquiry" and type in a registration number and make ?
It''ll tell you if it's on their system or not .........

It works well and tells you if the vehicle is still registered and taxed. My experience with DVLA is, however, that even if you apply on their form and send the appropriate fee they will not tell you to who the vehicle is registered. Just a little frustrating to know your old bike is out there somwhere but not to be able to find out where.

If anyone does know where my old Ariel 350 reg 276VME is I would be delighted to hear from them.

I have checked for my old Red Hunter on DVLA web site and it does not appear to be found, however on the motor insurance database site it shows it as being insured. Anyone have any idea why this should be?

Does the insurance database list it as a red hunter ?
It's possible that the registration has been sold onto a modern car ??
I think DVLA requires a vehicle/registration combination, which won't work if you don't know the vehicle make.

Alternatively, whoever has the bike has it added to their insurance policy for fire and theft purposes.
However, I was of the opinion that your insurance is void if the vehicle has no valid MOT ?

Yes John it is quoted as Ariel Red Hunter, I too had thought that the registration had been moved to another vehicle. Really strange. I know the name of the person I sold it to and I think he still has it but I have no idea of his address.

Are you in the aomcc ?

If you have the guy's name, then I can look him up in our member's database.
If he is there, I could possibly ask him if he wishes to contact you or pass along a message from you.
What I cannot do is to release his details to you.

pm me via the messaging system on this forum.

Yes I am a member and I did ask a few years back but found no-one. His name is Parkhouse and was always called "Bill" but I think his initials on the cheque were A W.

John /Admin, The link you quote is for renewing tax not for a vehicle enquiry. For a vehicle enquiry the correct link is:-

https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

Regards,
Keith.
