Model E 1929 -camshaft tuning

Post by RichardWeiß »

I have a ARIEL model E from 1929 and was driving about 1000 km with it this year. Some months ago I was talking to a freind of mine and he told me that the A6/664 camshaft would fit into the model E engine and would produce more power. What do you think and what is your experience with this tuning? Where could a get such a camshaft?

Waiting for your kind reply - best regards from Austria

The 1929 model E has valve timing of 5 55 60 70, the model G of 1930 uses the A6/664 cam and has timing of 22 70 70 25. So yes it would show an improvement in performance. The A6/664 cam was used from 1930 in sports models and from 1936 in all side valves, it doesn't wear as quickly as the other cams so good ones are not hard to find. It should go straight in without any modification being required.
