Spanner Identification

Post by Mick D »

Hi

Had a bit of luck at a boot sale today and picked up an Ariel spanner to compliment the FH toolkit I'm trying to amass:
6604-28 Spanner.png
The spanner is 5" overall length with jaws of 1/4" and 5/16" BSW.

Am I correct in thinking this is part number 6604-28?

Can anyone give an idea of the age of the spanner, in particular if it is appropriate for a 58 FH?

Edited to add a further thought - It could also be 6603-28, (5/16" x 3/8" BSF)

Regards Mick

If its -28 then it was introduced in 1928. I'm sure an FH will be mostly Whit hex sizes so should be OK.

Its a plate type for the side valve kit. A G1/60.
Postwar OHV should use forged spanners in their kits…..imo.

Michael.

Thanks Michael

Very informative, I'll have to call it the first component of my future side valve restoration :)
