Gearbox and footrest spacers on swingarm single.

Post by dennis.t »

On the gearbox pivot bolt for a swingarm single are the two spacers the same width? Secondly, for the footrest tie bar (for splined-type footrests) is there a spacer between the frame footrest mountings ?
There seem to be spacers all over the place (!) around the engine and frame but I am not clear if the one listed by Drags (5385-??) is for the spindle-type footrests only.
Many thanks,
Dennis

Hi Dennis, yes the two gearbox pivot bolt spacers are identical. The footrest tie bar requires spacer 5385-54 (swinging arm frames 54-58 so all of them) positioned between the engine plates.
Regards, Keith.

Keith, thank you that is good to know on both points.
Unfortunately Drags are out of stock of spacer 5385-54.
I am restoring a bike that was not much more than a frame with an engine and gearbox in boxes so I am now discovering how many small parts I am missing. The four front frame stud spacers are a good example as are the gearbox and footrest stud spacers!

Call me ignorant but I rode my 55 NH for 30 years with no spacer before I realised it needed one. I just cut steel tube to length.

As has been commented on by others, British “spacer age” technology at it’s finest.
