1947 Ariel
1947 Ariel
Just joined and know very little about Ariels. So looking for help with a possible first purchase.
This bike is titled 1947 and need to know whats all wrong with it. Has been in storage without running for about 20 years.
Any information would be helpful in my decision to buy.
Are numbers correct and what is its true value as is..
Thanks

Re: 1947 Ariel
The petroltank is made in India and is bad news, the rearmudguard and light is not Ariel.
We need a closeup of the numbers to see if they are good.
The chaintensioners are 1939-46 but maybe 1947.

Re: 1947 Ariel
Depending on how many where made, it's a low frame number.

Re: 1947 Ariel
The frame is from March 1940, the engine from July 1947. That said, engine and frame are entirely compatible since DK prefix engines were sent out in AX prefix frames. Its just that AX prefix frames were used from 1939 to 1948.
