Rear Axle nut spanner size

Post by paul.darnell »

I am trying to adjust the chain on my Arrow but none of my spanners or sockets fit the axle nut. To make my trip to Halfords more efficient, can somebody please tell me what size it is? Thank.

A quick measure suggests 1"3/32 AF or 28mm but it would be nice if someone else
confirmed this. The nut I measured is from a very late Arrow but I think they
are all the same.

I have gambled and ordered a 28mm socket and also a 29mm socket so one should fit.

The 28mm socket fits perfectly.

Thanks for the confirmation that 28mm fits.

Getting the chain tension right can be tricky on Arrows and
Leaders - too slack and it rattles on the chaincase and too
tight it wears very quickly.
