Currently fitted is a painted cover with no hole for a clock, but found this panel https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143230747758 to replace it, which will looks pretty good for '38 Vh.
Don't expect to find a real clock, but anything would do to fill the hole and cannot find a reasonable repro.

-The clock from Ebay-
it looks like it but it is too deep to fit and the thinghy that turns the pointers should be at 12 O'clock
Some time ago I was busy with making repro 'Smiths clock can be fitted here' but... development stalled haha -the original sits on this yellow 'pedestal' -

Re: wanted: 2" Smiths clock or repro
Do a search for 2" cricklewood or smiths clocks. One could easily make up a good repo from something like this listing. Enquire about correct diameter and depth as these were available as 2 or 3" diameter. Chrome bezel and hands can easily be found on e-bay.
Check diameter on these two. May not be 2".

This should be what you are looking for.
The Clock Face is sent as a pdf so you can size it and print a copy. You could use this as a repo face if you decide to make up a clock.
Note that the winding handle comes out of the top of the clock. The orientation of the winding handle on these clocks can easily be rotated if incorrect. The winding handle is easy to modify if too long. It is held, by a small cotter pin, onto the clock winding stub. Some clocks come with a flexible metal shaft on the winding handle. It is pretty well hidden when mounted so this is ok. It is easily shortened.
Cheers.
Please note the correct, shallow, body depth as shown below.
NOTE: Below are photos of a 2" diameter deep clock as fitted to automobiles. The body is too deep and will NOT fit correctly into the motorcycle panel/tank. There is NOT enough clearance for this depth. Note the flexible winding handle.

Note that the Indian panels may be cheap but they are lacking the boss for the panel lamp and the depressions for the panel screws. Also wrong cutout for a PA speedo
