I'm trying to paint my 1938 Ariel tank - the chrome was too far gone. I've got it primed, and a silver basecoat applied. Now I'm trying to paint on the red panels before lining it, but I'm finding that the masking tape (automotive stuff allegedly) is lifting the paint. I'd appreciate any tips - gene...

Its in the lower fork yoke, often obscured by muck and paint. Tap it out and the damper rod will come out.

I used a spindle out of a later rocker box as I was missing a rocker spindle. It has a large boss on the non-oil feed end which I ground down lengthways so it was less obvious. Ground because its too hard to turn. It works in the 28 rocker box, and you really can't see it with the tank on

Thats not a bad idea. I'll see if I can find reduced hex nuts in that size.

Hi The clearances are not well defined in the photos, but my first approach would be with the ring end of a combination spanner suitably ground down and thinned to fit, as well as moving the push rods to maximise access.
