Re: Hymn to the 1928 Model C

I like it ! A little over the top but you could take the lights off and get rid of the gilt in the windows, it would be in the way of proper viewing.

Re: 1948 Square Four

Terrific look to the job and the start will go well I am sure. We all understand the challenges of the break-in period I am sure.

Re: Frank's 1940 VA

It has taken a while but believe I have now found a type 1 front hub and must order shoes, rim and spokes ; then search more for a type 5 rear hub to build up. I may have to inquire of Draganfly what they might have used or just do the right thing and have them build up a pair of wheels for me.

Re: Ariel SB/1932 and SF 1931 my new project

I have not started the journey with mine yet but I will need many of these things you will come upon. As I have said I have two engines, a frame and a tank plus of course the exhaust collector I bought from you!! Everything else will have to be sourced or made new so save one for me. I also have a B...

Re: Brighter lights - 6v LED and halogen headlamp bulbs

There we go, I figured something like that was the problem. Good you got to it first and figured out what went wrong in the first place. We all do little things to confuse ourselves. Working on my RE headlight yesterday, why won’t this go on when I put the switch on full lights???? This one is moder...

Re: Frank's 1940 VA

There would not normally be any lining on a plain rim but there was on the tanks when they were all paint. Yours should have paint and chrome on the tank. Where did you find the note about 'standard trim' as this is not written in the despatch book? It does say 'std' under the 'tyres fitted' column...

Re: Square four overhaul/valve guide seals etc.

Yes, some clarification would be useful in guiding the next step. I imagine it is easy enough with new guides to machine before insertion but removal to size correctly then re-insertion is a lot of work although not the worst I have done. The MkI head I have will require all new guides once it is ma...

Re: Square four overhaul/valve guide seals etc.

Ahhh, this is very interesting information. I have a MkII head rebuilt by Mike Tadeo in California before he passed during the pandemic last year. I would like to install seals before putting this one in service so I will look at the seal suppliers for drawings on the machining dimensions for the gu...

Re: Ariel 4F/600 - 1932 engine

I am quite envious of your progress on this motorcycle. I am retired and not advancing quickly right now with double-vision and balance problems, mailed parts from Britain not coming through and this week losing storage for a few dozen rolling frame projects but I can only get better. Storage space ...
