Re: Aluminium heads on singles
Those Irving Vincent motors make the Most impressive noises at Broadford I've ever heard any bike make. Getting back to the metal used in the finished product you can see some alloys look whiter and ringing sound through the fins more This is generally an indication of the hardness. Some head metals...

Re: Aluminium heads on singles
DAVID, I tend to heat the alloy up to high temp and that reduces stresses and the likelihood of cracks. Most welders don't do that at the temps I do.IF you're welding in the Gut's of a head, THINK BIG'. Chop a lot away and come in from the easiest side making sure every metal lay down in the puddle ...

Doesn't have to be both Gears Try to have NO run out on the crankshaft pinion shaft. IF the gears come from a different maker the Te...

Re: 1927 model e carby adjustments
They are a 2 Lever carb basically and CAN work well as long as any parts are made as original as you can get them to be. AJS ran multi jet without a long needle ( BINKS) during the same years. The body may have been a bit worn (another variable). IF you get them RIGHT you can move the 2 levers close...

Re: 350 bigend torque figure ?
Do the DRIVE side first. You can hold that wheel in a Vice and it's doing the most work I don't use Torque figures. You go by feel and the words "Pretty tight". JAPs have shallow tapers angles and 26 tpi threads and are easy(ER) to crack the wheels. Corser threads need more torque. Hard to...
