I think that your bike has never had the clutch so far back before you fitted the oversized chain and there is no spare room in the chaincase so if anything is slightly out of line there will be trouble. I had never heard of a 7/8" handlebar for W/NG before, I thought they were all the tapered ones 6400-40 (slightly higher than civvy ones). But low and behold there in the September 1945 parts book is 6401-44 a 7/8 handlebar and 6403-44 plate, handlebar to clamp. Draganfly make their own handleb...

Insert rod into the steering stem, retain with the pin through the bottom yoke. Note do this before fitting mudguard! Assemble damper parts as per 1951 or later parts book as they have exploded views, assemble upper parts using the same method.

Neal, you could save some money and just paint is as it was originally. Chrome didn't arrive on Ariels until 1930 when they went a bit mad, no doubt they were proud of their recently installed chrome plating plant.

See page 15 of the Owner's Guide for method of extraction.
The Colt used Wipac equipment, the C11G and C12 used Lucas so the units are not the same. I think you will find that the depth of the housing is different. The Colt one is however the same as a C10L as you suspected
