Ariel club badge.

I've been wanting to have a go at casting aluminium, for a while. Someone gave me an old Ariel Owners badge. I thought it would be a perfect subject. Not perfect but getting there!

Re: VALVE TIMING

By cutting two new keyways at about 120° before and after the original keyway, it gave me a lot of adjustment to get the timing spot on. I should have only had to cut one but couldn't decide which way I needed to go! Obviously these keyways are not exactly 120° out, as the need to give a difference....

Re: VALVE TIMING

Just in case you haven't got the Bruce Longman info., it's available at Draganflys https://www.draganfly.co.uk/data/pdf/SQ ... timing.pdf
It took me a while to get to grips with it. To get is spot on, I cut extra keyways in the camshaft sprocket.

An interesting front brake at the 2019 Annual Rally

I spotted a couple of similarly modified front brakes at the 2019 Annual Rally. Unfortunately... I never spotted the owners! Does anyone know anything about these brakes?

Clutch oil leaks.

I'm working my way through oil leaks on my Mk 2... The oil leak I'm looking at, at the moment is between the clutch and the primary chain case. I know there are some spun aluminium dishes, that can be riveted to the clutch chain wheel. At the moment, I don't want to invest the time in making and fit...

Re: Oil filter quality

Filter was fitted to a Mk2. Done about a 1000 miles. I cut the paper out of the filter and it wasn't that dirty but I suppose at 1000 miles it shouldn't be. I'm going to try a MAN filter in the future. I'll cut it open and compare.

Mk 2 rear suspension springs

The new set of springsI ordered from Draganfly arrived today. Fitted 'em this morning and went for a ride this afternoon. I ride two up and the old springs were bottoming out. Although there didn't look much of a difference between the old springs and the new springs... the difference was definitely...

Oil filter quality

Looking on the internet, there seems to be quite a difference in quality of oil filters. I've just done an oil change, so thought I'd have a look in the old filter.

Re: SQ4 Sludge Trap enlargement

I've fitted some magnets to my return oil filter but couldn't remember where I saw the idea! Just found it, so thanks to Mike Nash for the idea. I posted some photo's under :- Fitting magnets to an oil filter
