Re: New member - looking for spares.

I have a slightly worn sliding member, spring and cap (but no nuts) which would probably cope perfectly well with the power of the 250. You might get a better one at the AGM and I can take this one to the AGM for you so you can compare what is available. I don't have a spare valve lifter assembly bu...

Re: New member - looking for spares.

That looks like one very modified engine. What was Grandad's intentions with it? Was he going to race it on methanol? Where are you based? If you can do, attend the forthcoming AGM autojumble where you will find many of the items you need but also a vast stock of knowledge to tap.

Re: Noisy cam pinions

The cheapskate answer is to transfer carefully the timing marks on the two gear wheels to the other side of them and then put the gears on the other way round. The gear on the camshaft can be pressed off easily enough using a vice.

But new gears would always be a better option if you can find them.

The late Len Ore used to say that 75% of carburettor problems could be sorted out by attending to the magneto.

Re: Ariel 4F/600 - 1932

Karol, In your post of Wed Mar 08, 2023 8:06 pm, you talk of drilling a hole in the inner case. This is for the end of part 2081-31 which is a pipe on the end of the union. I think I can see this pipe between your fingers. I wanted to bring this to your attention as I found an OHC 4F where the pipe ...

Re: 1930 LF

If the electric system is un-molested, the cutout should be inside the dynamo end cover. If you disconnect this and remove the third brush, wire the dynamo as per a 2 - brush dynamo and fit a normal voltage regulator you should have a reliable system, assuming the dynamo works. I would be tempted to...

Re: The KHA restoration starts (slowly)

First trip out on the KHA this year. The leak on the left side rear damper is reducing which is good. David Anderson's trick with the speedo cable worked really well so that is sorted. One new problem is poor fuel flow. I have cleaned out the breather hole in the filler cap since I got back home and...

I hadn't thought of the squirty oil can either. Another of son Rob's good ideas.

Buy it to use to ride to the Slovak Rally and then decide whether or not you have given it an adequate test run.
