Re: Corrected - is the VCH carb same as VH?

Thank you Roger and Simon. The club spares description indicates a 1953 VCH profile, so how is that different than the 1950 or '52 profile? Probably not different? The engine already has a 9:1 piston with a 1/16" decompressor plate which, as near as I could measure it gives a little more than 8...

Re: Corrected - is the VCH carb same as VH?

This is great Simon. The plan is to run the VCH cam in an iron VH as you are doing. I need to look through the older posts, but I believe the recommended setup was to run the HS mkIII or equivalent with an HS intake follower and a standard exhaust follower. Currently the '47 VH has a std VH single l...

Re: Corrected - is the VCH carb same as VH?

Corrected the title question, but I think the answer must be that the VCH was only fitted with the TT carb (is this true?). How embarrassing.

Looking to fit a 289 pre-monoblock or concentric mkI.

Re: is the VHA carb same as VH?

Simon, you are correct. I had remembered it as a VHA profile, but checking again shows it listed as a VCH. Ack - memory failing already! I've send you a PM.

So now the question becomes - was a 289 carb fitted to the VCH and what is the setup. Also considering running a MkI Concentric.

Re: is the VHA carb same as VH?

Club spares lists the cam as "53 VCH" profile. It has a lift of approx. 0.420". The original cam has a lift of about 0.360". After asking here I called AMAL/Burlen this morning (for me) and they list the same carb for 1952 VH and VHA. Unfortunately I didn't think to ask them abo...

Corrected - is the VCH carb same as VH?

I've got a VHA cam to put in a VH engine and wondering if the 289 carb is the same for both? VHA cam is slightly greater lift.

The search feature couldn't find an answer, so thank you for your expertise.

Re: 1946 bitsa project

Here's the frame and fork together from a couple months ago: 20220124_181221.jpg The rear engine plates were a mess - foot rest supports and mag platform brazed on and both plates badly bent because no spacer was used between them when tightening the foot rest tie-bolt. 20220310_171249.jpg 20220312_...

Re: Girder fork bushings

Hi Chris, To get the bushings out I use your method now - screw in a tap and then drive it out from the other side. With a drift it was a struggle to get the 1st bushing of the pair out. You can draw in the new bushing with thick washers and a long threaded rod. The oil impregnated bushings are soft...
