1958 VH petrol tank knee pads

Does anyone have any tips for installing the rubber knee pads (current pattern ones available) & alloy embellishers on this model?

Re: ArielMAroon /Deep Claret

I emailed MS Motorcycles (John Chrichlow) who took care of the paint side of Hughie Hancox's expert Triumph restorations to ask if he could oblige with Ariel Maroon. I was expecting no more than the usual "Yes" or, more probably, "No" answer but instead he replied immediately &am...

ArielMAroon /Deep Claret

I have a Maroon 1959 NH to be re-painted & I wonder if I might raise the subject of Ariel Maroon or Dark Claret again. A trawl of the forum brought up the following suggested colour matches :- - Leyland Hunter Maroon B, (Draganfly suggestion) - Ford Garnet - BMC Blackberry - RAL 3007 It’s a pity...

Indeed, that's what it is, Rob. Thank you. I've just tried a 7/16 BSF die on one & it fits. I'm getting old.

Threads on full width alloy hubs & brake plates

The thread on the sprocket (& other nuts/nuts) measures 3/8 inches x 18 TPI.
Is this an NPT thread form?

KH Crankshaft balancing

Has anyone had a KH crank dynamically balanced & is able to tell whether it is worthwhile? My 1955 KH buzzs unpleasantly at anything above 45 mph. The entire bike buzzs; frame, petrol tank, everything! Loctite is the order of the day. I don't know why it should be that bad with a KH. All the eng...

I got a pair of BSA stainless holders with seals a few months ago from Feked MC on Ebay, as no one seemed to stock them for Ariel forks at the time. As far as I can tell the oil seals are the same as fitted to Ariel forks. The holders seemed well made but were longer than the holders fitted to my 19...

Yes, there is such a (slight) shoulder. Well. the 2nd spindle nut refused to come off even a compressed air driven socket even when a little heat was applied so the "extraction with the puller" tactic could not be attempted. The spindle had to be drilled out at both ends using successively...

I would hope that the spacer tube between the bushes on the spindle should prevent that happening.

I've gone 3000 miles on a brass anti-sumping spring loaded valve on a 1955 Ariel KH with no problems so far. However, I always check the oil return at the oil tank whenever I start up just like we used to do in the old days. Since the valve was fitted, the amount of flow doesn't seem any different. ...
