Re: Thread size and type - kick start ratchet nut
Hi, I have acquired a nut from Geoff, but the challenge is that the thread on the shaft is a bit damaged. The nut goes on so far and then tightens and looking at the thread on the shaft the thread has been swaged as it were. There is no point in just forcing it on since it will do no good to the nut...

Just enjoy it and don't worry about originality. the important thing is that it is roadworthy - considering its age it has the right to have a few non-=original components; things do wear out or simply get broken!

Hi Vincent, A great article. To all of you Arielists out there............any articles like this will be much appreciated for the Cheval de Fer! BUT if they have already been linked to on the forum, I'd not want to bore people with duplications. I am in the process of taking over the editorship from...

Re: steering damper knob coming loose
Hi,
There should be a pin through the bottom yoke that passes through the damper assembly precisely to stop it dropping out if the knob is removed. There is usually a spring between the knob and the retaining nut on the top yoke that helps to stop the damper from vibrating loose.
BR,
Keith
