Re: Ariel VH oil leak

Hi Clinton, Being a 58 NH it should have the extra ball valves introduced in 1957 to help prevent loss of return suction and loss of feed pressure in the event of crud getting trapped under the valve seats of the valves contained within the pump. The extra return side ball valve is situated behind t...

Re: gb 40 gearbox

Jim, GB40 box was originally fitted to 1956-57 KH, 56-58 VH and VB models. With a three plate clutch draganfly's site shows the pushrod as being 9 13/16" long with a single ball bearing at the gearbox clutch operating lever side of the pushrod. Remember to adjust some free play here by removing...

Re: which gear is the wrong one

Jim you are right, the total number of teeth of each pair in the standard ratio box adds up to 46. As you can see from JP's download the layshaft gear with 25 teeth is wrong as it should have 24 teeth.
Cheers,
Keith.

Re: Paint detail on a 57 Huntmaster

Hi Steve, The late heavyweight Ariels all have a 1/8" white pin stripe matching line each side of the welded tank seams starting at the front and running along the top to the back of the tank at the seat. The template for the line can be downloaded from The Danish Ariel Club site link here :- h...

Re: Primary chaincase gasket

Johnny, yes you are right but as Drags website and Roger indicates the gasket can also be used on earlier Ariels. I imagine that you won't find it in those specific gasket sets only the later model gasket sets. I use them on my 57 NH (as specified) with some grey gasket sealant and use Loctite on th...

Re: Lucas dynamo for VH500 1956

Ralf, make sure the commutator segments are separate right back to the shellaced twine that is wound round the copper wires.
Good luck with it.

Keith.
