Re: 6volt to 12volt - Dynamo type?
Hi Peter, For a 12 volt conversion the restorer should also have either changed the old armature in your dynamo for a 12v one or, better still, to have changed both the armature and field coils for 12v items. You can check the dynamo output voltage by disconnecting the 'F' and 'D' wires from the dyn...

Re: Nh350
Hi Pete, Have you tried 'flashing' it for correct polarity first ? When 'motored' on a battery the armature should spin in the same direction as it spins when fitted on the motorcycle (anti-clockwise looking at the brush/commutator end on your NH). If it doesn't and you have the correct (earth) pola...

Re: Rear Sprocket
Norm, If you have tried the usual sources with no luck I notice new ones are being sold from India on ebay. Not sure what they are like as Indian made parts are often hit and miss with respect to original spec but here is a link :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353903564645?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=...

Re: Removing the steering damper rod (and it’s pin)
Martin,
From memory, you drift the pin out by hitting your drift through the larger hole on the steering lock boss and punching the pin out towards the back of the motorcycle. It may take a couple of hard whacks to get the pin moving.
Keith.

Re: Removing the steering damper rod (and it’s pin)
Hi Martin,
You have to remove the steering lock first and then drift the pin out. See this thread for removing the lock :-

Good luck with it,

Re: 54 VH Exhaust Valve Stem Diameter
Hi Ian, According to the measurements on the Feked.com site your exhaust valve stem has the right diameter for a '54 VH. The inlet valve stem is a smaller diameter at 11/32" from their info. See following links :- https://www.feked.com/index.php?match=all&subcats=Y&pcode_from_q=Y&ps...

Hi Dennis,
A 1958 Ariel factory document gives 25 ft lbs torque for the head bolts.
All the best,
Keith.

Re: Float height or Fuel Level in a Concentric
MG, This carb tuning guide appears to be at odds with what 'Nick' says about MK1 Amal Concentric float levels and is worth a read :- tuning_and_using_amal_mk1_concentric_carburetters_.pdf I checked the Concentric float levels on my Honda twin by the method Charles Falco uses as the carbs have drain ...

Re: Rear Rack type for late 350cc Red Hunter
Hi Richard, As Simes says, run it on the best fuel which is marked E5 at the pumps but can have no ethanol in it depending on supplier and geographical location. My 57 NH runs fine on it and I am running a modified piston with a 9:1 CR and HS cam. As for the rack, I bought one from this company a wh...
