Re: WNG sumpplate measurements drawing
I have often thought about fitting such a plate to my early 1930 bikes as they are prone for leaking from various places. It helps the garage floor as well as spots on the pavement when waiting for riders of other (non Ariel) bikes.

Re: primary chain trouble VH 500,
IWIS chains have a good reputation. I am using them on all my Ariels after I had similar broken roller like you.

If your inlet measures only 28mm, maybe it was originally used on a HT5 trails bike?

Re: JP Piston
Back from the Austrian Rally my RH500 has now done about 500 kms on the 7.5 to 1 JP piston. It once slightly nipped up on a hot day going uphill. But day by day it went better!

Re: JP Piston
Hi Charlie, I have fitted a JP piston to my 1938 VH shortly. I was stongly advised to give it a clearance of 12/100 mm. The motor has done some 200 Kms so far and it has no tendency to nip up. I will participate at the Austrian rally the comming weekend and will be able to test the bike on the runs....

Re: Fake HS?
Hi Seppo, the bike looks very much the same as my 1955 HS. The front rim looks to be smaller than 21" due to the gap to the mudguard. Mine has the std drivers footrests as the HS on the photo . If you want any details in particular feel free to get in touch. I am happy to provide photos of mine...

1938 panel light
I am getting my 1938 RH ready for the rally season 2022. I wonder if there is a propper way to secure the panel light from getting lost. Not only the fear from Robby Longfinger but it might fall of by itsself. Whats you recommendation?
Thanks Klaus
