Re: Wheel spokes advice required again....

Hi
Any thread protruding from the head of the nipple is contributing nothing to the integrity of the threaded joint.
I'd be curious as to why the spoke length differs from that in the literature, are the nipples the correct diameter?

Re: Crack sealing options

Hi
This will do it then:

Re: Crack sealing options

OK, Sorry
How hot do you think the rocker box gets? There are higher temp products.
Are you sure they're through cracks as opposed to casting imperfections? Will acetone seep through?

Hi Cam Metalset: https://www.smooth-on.com/products/metalset-a4/ Pro Seal: http://www.ppgaerospace.com/getdoc/572f7cad-14e1-4a0e-aee0-c994b9a6dece/PR-1422-Class-A-Fuel-Sealant.aspx Both are normally applied with a spatula and 'worked' into the surface. After curing Metalset can be sanded but Pro Sea...

Re: Crack sealing options

Hi Desoto Pro Seal PR 1422 A1/2 will do the job as will Metalset A4 - both available from aviation suppliers. Now is the ideal time to apply them as everything needs to be spotlessly clean. I've used these products for many years and if applied correctly they never fail - 100% fuel and oil resistant...

Re: Removing Stanchion From Yoke

Hi Thanks for the advice - they're out :D They were, as I suspected, being held by the tapers - the lower yoke was not gripping them at all once the pinch bolts were loosened. No amount of downward pressure would move them but vigorous tapping the top yoke from underneath with a club hammer via a br...

Removing Stanchion From Yoke

Hi I've searched the forum for an answer to this but didn't find any - apologies if I missed something. I'm trying to remove the forks from my 58 FH, I've slackened the pinch bolts and the cap nuts but no amount of gentle persuasion is having any effect - I've gone to the extent of trying my hydraul...

Re: FH Rocker Box Installation

Hi
Thanks so much, I knew there must be a better way - Steve, I'll be going through a few dry runs of your procedure ;)
The engine will be going back in minus the head and rocker box :D

FH Rocker Box Installation

Hi The dis-assembly of my 58 FH is continuing and as I go I'm trying to form a plan for the re-build. The engine is still in the frame and today I removed the rocker box and cylinder head. There were no unexpected issues with removal of either but in order to remove the rocker box I had to lift it s...
