Re: Clutch basket rubs on inside top of dome

I think that your bike has never had the clutch so far back before you fitted the oversized chain and there is no spare room in the chaincase so if anything is slightly out of line there will be trouble. The gap between chaincase and frame has been mentioned but I have seen this problem caused by be...

Re: handlebars

I had never heard of a 7/8" handlebar for W/NG before, I thought they were all the tapered ones 6400-40 (slightly higher than civvy ones). But low and behold there in the September 1945 parts book is 6401-44 a 7/8 handlebar and 6403-44 plate, handlebar to clamp. Draganfly make their own handleb...

Re: Baffled

Draganfly have made baffles to the original sound and style, with, if I remember correctly, assistance from the club. These have been fitted to all the silencers they sell for at least 10 years. The baffles are available separately. I have no connection with the named establishment other than being ...

Re: Steering damper order of assembly?

Insert rod into the steering stem, retain with the pin through the bottom yoke. Note do this before fitting mudguard! Assemble damper parts as per 1951 or later parts book as they have exploded views, assemble upper parts using the same method.

Neal, you could save some money and just paint is as it was originally. Chrome didn't arrive on Ariels until 1930 when they went a bit mad, no doubt they were proud of their recently installed chrome plating plant.

I love that green as well and the path isn't bad either.

How early is it? Chris Odling at Ellenabeich has engine EC 101?

Re: Ariel Colt advance/ retard unit needed

See page 15 of the Owner's Guide for method of extraction.
The Colt used Wipac equipment, the C11G and C12 used Lucas so the units are not the same. I think you will find that the depth of the housing is different. The Colt one is however the same as a C10L as you suspected

Re: Ariel petrol tank puzzle

TAB 50 KG15.JPG
If the tank is 1950 KH, which it does appear to be, the panel is wrong. There should be a hole for the light switch where the 8 day clock usually goes, the ammeter is mounted in carrier plate in place of the speedo
