Re: Crankshaft bushes / oil pressure issues

Hi. It's bit late now, but have you tested the oil pressure relief valve; located in the front crank.

Re: Oil pressure gauge hand adjustment.

Ok. You got me there. Does the gauge have a quadrant gear; meshed with a pinion on the shaft which carries the hand; or does it use a system of levers? I'm trying to work out how this has happened. Having rebuilt around thirty pressure, and vacuum gauges over the years.Same principle. Most problems ...

Re: Leaking flooding carb

Hi Mike. The original metal float has an internal tube running top to bottom, soldered in place to seal it. To test it, simply put some warm water in a bowl and push it under. If you get a stream of small bubbles, the float is leaking and will not float at the correct level in the float chamber. Chr...

Re: Oil pressure gauge hand adjustment.

Hi Nick. I notice that the hand in your second photo is in a different position to the first photo. Therefore unless the hand is loose on the shaft, the fault must be in the mechanism. I suggest a careful inspection with a good light and maybe a magnifying glass is required. Chris

Re: Oil pressure gauge hand adjustment.

Hi Nick. You are correct in assuming that the gauge needs to be dismantled. In order to do that, it will have to be removed from the bike, and on to the work bench. The first thing to do is to carefully prise off the bezel from the rear, remove the rubber seal, and finally the glass.Your rubber seal...

Re: sq4 rocker shaft instalation

Hi Henning G. My current project is a Mk 1 squariel, and I asked myself the same question about a week ago.I decided that, as Roger says, all thing being equal; there is a small chance that the underside of the rocker shaft might get a little more oil, when the valve is closed, if the hole pointed d...

Re: Sq4 MkI- new life

Hi Gui. Please check the stud, to the left of the engine number, in the top picture. It looks as though it may be pulling out, due to a stripped thread.
I hope that I am wrong.
Cheers, Chris.

Re: Oh dear....

Hi Roger. Unless you're hauling a DA sidecar, plus pillion and luggage, I wouldn't worry about it. You still have 90 percent of the original strength in the fixings. Just refrain from pulling too many wheelies.
Cheers, Chris.
