Re: KH primary chain alignment
Regarding the engine sprockets, here's a pic of what I've been running on the FH engine, note that the 'spigot' on the back is shallower than on the sprocket Will was given as an FH equivalent and in my case the sprocket sits further in towards the inner chaincase. Re: Web site seems slow to load replies.
The post I put in a couple of minutes ago took maybe 1 sec to go through. The Forum performance (which is what we're looking at here) is a bit erratic, but as Will says we're at the mercy of the service providers with this. We're on a shared platform and I suspect they only make adjustments to re-ba...

Re: Frame and swingarm compatibility.
Drags (Roger) have a doc that details the differences between the BSA and Ariel versions of the '56 full-width alloy hub.
(I've stolen it and put it into a 'HowTo' in the members' area 'Howtos' section. )

Re: Lots of white smoke - W/NG
It'll take as long as it needs to clear depending on how much is in the sump! (Although minutes rather than hours, maybe around 5 if that helps).
Alternatively loosen the sump plate bolts and drain off what's in there.....

Re: Lots of white smoke - W/NG
Is the oil returning to the tank as frothy bubbles/little spurts or a constant stream? If the latter there's a lot in the sump which will cause smoke until it clears. (As an aside - I'm sure you're running the bike on the rear stand - my VH would smoke like billy-oh after a few minutes on the side s...

Re: My NH 350 Piston
For info, those are the exact original equipment pistons Ariel used for the alloy head 350s.
Back in the mid 1970s Writers had a 'bin' full of them for £5.00 a go, with rings and gudgeon pins. Unfortunately only in std bore size - but that stop me and a mate buying a couple!

I think that makes them only available to Club Members (for more reasons than just Club favouritism)?

Re: Major oil leak from rear enclosed chain case
Paul - how much is 'major'?
Probably worth checking the condition of the felt wick in the oil tank, maybe it's missing completely?
