Nev, I would use John Deere valve caps for the 3/8 stem, originally exhaust, in the 500. Mine has 3/8 stems for both valves ,using a cut down JD inlet with a hard seat and a hardchrome stem. These are good for 5000hours [ in a tractor],a sight better than the soft rubbish sold by suppliers as replica...

I have see...

Ball bearings are definitely the way to go, RHP lipped rollers must be made of gold. Some sizes of plain outer race [unlipped] are available at more realistic prices from SKF.An alternative is to grind the mainshaft to 25mm and use ISO rollers if you must have rollers. The books suggest that VH had s...

Thanks Keith,I would have to have a think about a chrome one.I would probably go for a bare one. My Norton has an Indian chrome rim fitted four years ago. The chrome hasnt peeled it has just disappeared in patches, like the silver on a lolly.Theres no import or GST in Aus [yet] on items under $1000....

Re: Replica Panel type tanks from India.

I would like to hear from an owner who has a replica tank made in India, as offered on ebay stores.I would particularly like an opinion from an Australian buyer.
