Simon, thanks I'll take a look.

Re: Find bike registration details from a frame number
Roger,
Many thanks for looking. I assume that you or someone at the club entered my name against the frame number when i posted a topic asking what year the frame was made so we come full circle

Re: NH350 camshaft locking up on assembly.
Will, good point about the crankcase bush. If it is the camshaft length there is not much I can do about that since I have no access to a lathe. The thick gasket provide a small amount of end float for the shaft sufficient to give free rotation of the shaft so I will go with that for now.

Re: NH350 camshaft locking up on assembly.
Will, Thank you for your reply. The camshaft bushes line up and the shaft moves freely so I do not think it is a problem with the camshaft alignment in the bushes. I tried another inner timing case that I have, an unserviceable one, with the same result. I only mentioned the profile of the cam for i...

Re: Find bike registration details from a frame number
Roger, nice one! I read with interest the topic in the Ariel section about factory despatch records and your endeavours to link that to frame numbers. Given that some bikes were pre-registered by the dealers it might be the case that my 1956 NH350 was pre-registered. If you have the time would you p...

NH350 camshaft locking up on assembly.
I am rebuilding a 1956 NH350 engine from used parts. I bought a camshaft and inner timing cover from an earlier model (no dowel holes). The camshaft locks up when I tighten the case screws unless I use a vey thick homemade gasket. Is that acceptable or is there an underlying problem? The gasket is m...

Re: Find bike registration details from a frame number
This thread is quite long now so for information I do not know the original registration. Regarding contacting the registration authority archives, I am some way off completing the restoration so I will wait until the bike is complete in case I need to re-register it with the help of the club. I ask...

Re: NH 350 inner timing cover dowel fitment
Roger, thank you for your reply and your advice.
Pete, the photo is a great help as I can see how and where the dowels mate with the inner casing.
Regards,
Dennis

Re: NH 350 inner timing cover dowel fitment
Thanks both. To be clear, I was supposed to ask if the correct inner timing cover has locating holes for the dowels on the crankcase to aid locating and add strengthening? Good to know that an earlier inner case can be used. My question about part numbers versus casting codes is how do we, or the pa...
