Re: VB600 starting issues

My VB is very susceptible to flooding. From cold I never used the choke. I give it 30 seconds or so to fill the float chamber, a couple of dabs of the tickler and watch for the very first sign of petrol which appears at the banjo thread, then turn the fuel off (in case of back fire). No priming kick...

Re: E3LM Field Coil replacement

Fair comments ! The Panther dyno is working fine, so I was a bit uneasy about disturbing it. I probably should have followed an earlier suggestion and bought the full rebuild kit from Rex's, but had trouble prizing my wallet open sufficiently. Will get some new brushes. Guess that if its not that, t...

Re: E3LM Field Coil replacement

A good question - just went and checked; yes it does rotate on the bike in the direction shown on the case.

Re: E3LM Field Coil replacement

Hi folks, A bit of background: the magdyno had been functioning perfectly for the 2000 miles I had done since getting the bike. Unfortunately, the mag and dyno were flooded with a lot of oil when the return pump failed. Both continued to work fine for around 100 mles or so after i had fixed the pump...

Re: E3LM Field Coil replacement

Thanks for the helpful responses.
Looks like Draganfly are out of stock of the field coils, so I may go with Rex's unless I can find a closer supplier.
Cheers, Bevan

E3LM Field Coil replacement

Hi folks, Even though my dyno field coil resistance is within spec and the dyno will motor, I cannot get it to produce any voltage. I've cleaned the commentator and brushes carefully and am pretty sure they are ok. so think that I probably need to replace the field coil. I am aware that there are so...

Re: Oil weep from feed pipe nut

Thanks. Yes it is a screenshot from their website. I'd hope not to have to get it from them given the postage to N.Z. is around 15 times the cost of the part.

Re: Oil weep from feed pipe nut

Hi folks, Just for clarity, since I've thus far been unable to locate a New Zealand source of the oil pipe solder on nipples, is this definitely what I want ? The od of the copper pipe appears to be 8 mm, which is close to 5/16". Rather galling if I to have to import this tiny part from the U.K...

Re: Oil weep from feed pipe nut

Thanks guys,
I'll drain the tank once again and have another inspection of the pipe end fittings.
Cheers,
Bevan
