Re: Oil pressure gauge fitting

Hey Roger,

I tried to drill out the end on the supplied pipe :D , unfortunately it's too bulky and doesn't allow the nut to thread on far enough.

I was originally going to invent a custom solution, but I hung on for the draganfly part, so I will need to goback to plan A now.

Oil pressure gauge fitting

I have an older club pressure gauge - one of the ones with "eureka" on it. After changing my engine, to a single, I needed to replumb the gauge. I waited 4 months to get the upper oil pipe from Draganfly - which runs from the rocker take off to the gauge - it has a silly 1/4" cycle th...

Re: Mk 2 Royal Enfield brake conversion

I know from experience, with enfields, that this is a seriously good brake on them.

Does it fit into a half width hub ?
It looks like your torque arm is for the full width stuff ?

Re: Won't start

Update Spent a while last night removing head gasket and then lapping the head joint (took ages). After all that lapping, I suspected that the push rod seals were too porky (now trimmed down somewhat), as the club push road tubes are slightly longer than the originals, and weren't letting me clamp t...

Re: Won't start

I've tried a variety of ignition and carb settings - retard, advance, flooded, choked etc. I am confident it's timed on the compression stroke and that the timing is thereabouts. On a lighter note, I've found the compression issue - the head gasket on the push-rod side is leaking. I'm a 52 model, so...

Won't start

Recently assembled VH500 New mains, new big end, new rings, new carb (amal concentric) and mag rebuilt. timing is good. spark plug will spark against the barrel (tried a couple now), valves have clearance at tdc, lifter disconnected. Compression isn't brilliant, but all the kicking and a drop more o...

I'm running the right parts.
I'll carefully take the first tooth down a little more and keep trialing

Re: Kickstart jamming

I have the cover off and the quadrant in it's bush, on the inner cover, so I can see what's happening. I found another quadrant and that has exactly the same issue - the first half tooth jams the ratchet, depending on position. The ratchet gear looks fine and in consulting the parts list I can see t...

Kickstart jamming

1951 BA box with some new internals. Kickstart would lock or jam every 10 kicks. The box is free and it appears that if the kickstart quadrant meets the toothed ratchet at a certain position then it catches and locks. You can rock the engine, in gear, everso slightly and all is good. The first tooth...
