I will be doing some checking, first stop is removing the dynamo and then checking primary side parts.

Houston, we have a problem.

Whilst riding yesterday along the North Devon coast I noticed a new whirring noise from the 1938 VH engine, it sounded like metal on metal, possibly a bush rotating in its housing. Also.... so far as I know, the Red Hunters of this period had a 'big bore' tap without a reserve tap. The Red Hunters also had flexible pipes rather than solid copper.

I always spend on the magneto, worth every penny in the long run. When it's been sorted it should be good for many worry free miles and give you easy starting. (ditto the carb)

Mine is at 6 volts as I don't ride often at night and the 6v LED bulbs are extremely bright and good for day riding.

Here is a price list for Jeff Hunter rubber parts.

Foot rest rubbers, knee grip rubbers, handlebar rubbers.... etc.

He is not always quick to respond to email so be patient or give him a call. I think he can make special one-off rubber parts (you will have to ask him) and he does attend certain autojumbles.
