Re: Chrono speedo repair

The link actually goes to the site of David and Philip Woods. David has just refurbished the Chronometric speedo for my Red Hunter at a very fair price and a very fast turnaround. As a bonus he has recalibrated it so it will read correctly with the PA ratio gears thus saving me either changing the l...

Re: gear case cover uncertainty

Hi Paul,
thanks for the reassurance, I will blank it off until one turns up as none of the usual sourcers seem to have any.

Re: gear case cover uncertainty

Good point, Bob. If it is a straight through breather that will be doable even for me. However a close look at the 1939 parts book shows a reference to a ring and a ball for "valve in elbow union" which implies there may be some non return valve internally in the breather which would proba...

Re: gear case cover uncertainty

Thanks Dave and Alan for the prompt and helpful replies. It's good to know I have the correct part. It looks like the breather (part number 2100-33) may be a problem as Draganfly don't do it and it isn't listed by the Club Spares Scheme or by John Budgen. I will press on with assembling and hope a u...

gear case cover uncertainty

I am trying to complete a 1939 VH Red Hunter project from the Mike Taylour collection. It's an interesting challenge as some of the work has been done very well but some parts have clearly been thrown on to make it more saleable. Basically I'm disassembling pretty much everything to check it's corre...

Re: 1939 RH 'R' stamping

It would be interesting if anyone with say a 1938 to 1940 VH could have a look and see if you have such a stamping I have an October 1938 (1939 model) VH which is disassembled enough to confirm there is no trace of an R stamping on any of those locations on my bike. Must be either an individual wor...

Re: front brake lever for girder fork needed

Hi Andrew thanks for replying. I am sorted now as I found a lever that does a perfect job and looks pretty much identical in a box in the corner of my workshop! I still have the petrol tap available if you need it - would prefer to swap for other bits I need - I will PM you with my phone number. che...

Re: Smiths PA2240 Speedo

I think someone said the messages stay in the outbox until they get read - they don't get sent as such.... (So it's not like Windoze..... :D ) SG That's how it works on the VMCC Forum which I have used a lot. The OP of this thread can't be logging in and reading his messages. I am now sorted for a ...

I sent a PM over a week ago but it's still sitting in my outbox so don't hold your breath!
