Re: Racing photos

Great stuff, thanks. I love the picture of them all pushing off, that's an early post-war picture by the look of it. And the Corish Ariel article is excellent.

Re: Racing photos

I looked up some programmes from 1980-1986 online, and Geoff seems to have used race numbers 214 and 219 when racing. His tank also didn't have the gold lining and his exhaust was a l/h high...

Re: Racing photos

Great photos and info chaps. My friend Geoff Brandon used to ride his 500 girder forked Ariel in vintage racing in the eighties. The bike is currently displayed in Brooklands museum.

Re: Racing photos

Hi Vincent, yes I have seen plenty of those pictures, strange that more weren't used for road racing though.

Racing photos

Hi all, just wondered if anyone has, or knows where on the 'net, are early post war pictures of motorcycle road racing. Especially pictures of Ariels. I would have thought that as Ariel were quite quick off the mark with telescopic forks, that there would have been a few raced. I know Triumph single...

Re: Painted & lined rims

I once dulled the centre of some rims by carefully masking the outer edges, and then blasting myself with fine glass beads. Stainless rims.

Re: Trying to track My Grandfarthers Ariel.

Hi, after looking at the comments on your FB account, no, it's 100% not a Square 4. Your grandfather's bike has only one cylinder, whilst the Square 4 literally had 4 cylinders in a box configuration. Good luck with your search.

Great, thanks.
I'm getting some new clutch bits from the club, so will tackle the whole thing in one go.
Cheers.
