( just joking) I don't want to put it back together without getting some of the vibes out of it.. It's an original bike and hasn't done a lot of work, so it's wort...

It does sound like the coil is breaking down. I've had symptoms like that before, and in every case it was the magneto coil. The smoke from the exhausts after a while may only be the accumulated residue of old oil/carbon in the muffler getting heated. Nev

Another problem you can encounter is the unlipped roller outer rings can come loose (when the motor is very hot), or if the cases have lost some of the interference fit. The steel ring will come out till it hits the flywheel. This can't happen with balls or a lipped roller. Nev

It was the first time that I couldn't see small bits of metal in the oil (from the camshaft). I have used Aeros...

Re: Big end bearing

All singles except the VH run Ball bearings on the mains. Unless you are going to use it hard you can replace the roller bearings with ball bearings ( Much cheaper) Most of us would never wear these things out in a lifetime of rallying. The VH only puts out about 25 HP in standard trim so the balls ...

To be honest, Pete, I have not pulled one apart,( separated the wheels), but they are Iron cast wheels and I know of several which have failed, one of which was a VCH (late model) 1953. I assumed since they were cast iron, they would NOT be a parallel press fit. I am referring to the 54 0n models. W...

i've never liked the thick gaskets because of the constant tightening either. There are different length pushrods, around, relating to the two different sized camshaft base diameters. This isn't applicable to the single cam lobe engines though. Valve seat recession and refacing the valve both upset ...
