Otto Head Gaskets
Before I replace the head on a Mk2 Square Four, is there a need for gasket sealant, other than the bead of silicone around the pushrod tunnels, as recommended by Bruce Longman?

Re: Breather tube sizing - MK1
Hello Cam, I've no experience of using a larger i.d. breather on a Square Four, but I do wonder that, if you are losing too much oil through the existing one, have you considered routing the pipe from the back of the timing case upwards rather than downwards? A flexible hose can then be led to the b...

So, is the best way to use Ebay with their huge customer base to find a buyer, then fiddle things so Ebay doesn't get paid any fees?

I have often read (not specifically about Square Fours, mind,) that an oil pressure equating to 10 psi per thousand rpm when running is cons...

Re: MK1 - Possible Rear Crank Gear Play
Out of interest, Cam, how do you plate the centre bore of the pinion, but not the rest of it?

Re: MK1 - Possible Rear Crank Gear Play
I think I would go for the tightest fit achievable, so that the proper pinion fitting pusher is just capable of fitting the gear. If the plating depth is too great, fine emery cloth would reduce it.

Re: Square 4 Accuspark fitted
Allan, there are distributors available from 123 Ignitions, have a look at Cheval magazine February 2017 Thanks for the info, Dave. I read the piece in Cheval that you referred to. The 123 is a high-tech piece of kit, for sure. I think it may be overkill on a simple, low-power engine like a Square F...
