Alloy brake plate for type 3 telescopic forks 46-55

For the start of the New Year I'm sharing my progress on my latest 500 cc single special which may be of interest. The photos show the alloy brake plate I've made to substitute for the standard pressed steel version. I'm not sure if this has been attempted before but this is my version. The material...

Re: TT carb on 500 single

Thanks John, after fruitless conversations with most of the employees at John Deere I need some more info if you have it - or better still the outlet where you obtained yours. Engine type or anything.
Regards

Re: Rear wheel sprockets

Mine are 0.258 inch dia. Using a piece of round bar which was a tight fit in the hole and measured with a vernier.

Re: Rear wheel sprockets

How about loose fitting the bolts and tapping the sprocket anticlockwise (in the direction of drive) and when you are satisfied you've taken up any slack - tighten up.
Just about to fit one so I will check to see how mine goes. My sprocket was ebay used so Ill check the hole dia's

Re: TT carb on 500 single

Nev, Agreed on the grease my mistake was being too confident with the setup and not greasing regularly. I did use high temp grease. I remember seeing excess carbon deposits on the exhaust side when stripping the exhaust valve guide but could also have been to my lack of regular greasing. I did have ...

Re: TT carb on 500 single

Progress on the oil mist conversion for inlet and exhaust open valve singles which might be of interest. The prospect of some form of restrictor for the oil mist line is a distinct possibility for the future . Can't test at the moment waiting for the return of the overhauled magneto. Short term usin...

Re: 1"spacer for VB carb

Made one from aluminium bar with a deep undercut allowing the studs to be exposed. 1/4 inch flanges both ends. 1 inch length is the max to allow a 389 1 1/8 amal to fit with bellmouth without touching the oil tank.

Hi.
I have 2 messages that seem to be stuck in outbox - personal messages can't find any way out to send. Or does it take a little time to send? Thanks
