Re: 500 single replacement std bore piston JP?

Ariel Piston Comparisons.xls Thanks all - here's something for the Bank Holiday reading and lockdown. I have trawled through the links and come up with a piston comparison spreadsheet to try and understand the data provided by various owners. I also added some Hepolite data and details of a new sta...

500 single replacement std bore piston JP?

I'm looking for a new 500 standard bore piston. I would prefer a Hepolite but know JP's are available. I've read reports that the JP's are heavier, also that the JP's need additional clearance over the Hepolites. I can't find any forum links to experiences with these fitted. Just needing a heads up.

Re: Ariel rocker box

After checking records. The average clearance measurements over 4 rocker sets I've assembled is as follows. Inside the collars at the angle bracket end (so engine drive side) it is common to find a 0.006 inch shim just to prevent face to face contact. The thrust of the spring should allow the rocker...

Re: Ariel rocker box

Hi John, 20191001_123537.jpg Been down this path a few times on mine and I am building another at the moment. My method is to loosely assemble the valve rocker gear without the clam shells. The trick is to ensure the spring tangs are located in the small holes in the angle bracket whilst ensuring yo...

Re: Mechanical Regulator Question.

Alan and Will thanks for responding. I have spent some time fiddling without success and quite frankly this option is against all my normal views on technology upgrades. I've looked at the DVR2 unit, it sounds fine and I've ordered one today.

Mechanical Regulator Question.

So I just rewired my 500cc RH500. New harness, reconditioned dynamo, new mechanical regulator (sure its a Wassel). Soldered joints throughout. Not running with battery connected everything works perfectly with ammeter showing a discharge with lights on. When the bike is running I have a steady 4 amp...

Petrol tanks - gold pinstripes - colour match

A nice easy puzzle for a Monday. How difficult can selecting a suitable gold colour for pin striping the petrol tank be. I didn't think so till I started searching. I've come up with Jaguar Coronet but it looks too dark to me. To go onto Renault Rouge 705 red panels and wheel rims if its important. ...
