Re: GB gearbox
I run semi fluid grease in both of my bikes with GB boxes, precisely because I was sick of oil leaking out of the Speedo drive. VH has done thousands of miles like that so works for me. I don’t use the level plug, I just syringe it in and occasionally squirt some oil from the can in through the fill...

Re: Mk2 square 4 compression test
I did a compression test on my ‘48 4G last year, when I was having some running issues and needed to rule compression out. Using a good quality tester I borrowed from work and with WOT I was a pretty even 95psi on all 4, so I’d say your figure on a MK2 with higher compression pistons is in the right...

Re: KH Crankcases
Well I’d delayed sending off the cases due to being busy with life in general, I finally sent them off last week to the welder. Imagine my surprise when I got a message on Monday to say they were done and they arrived back through the door this morning. That’s a one week lead time and a cracking job...

Re: KH primary chain alignment
This would make a huge amount of sense. I had been wondering what was done to account for the different mainshaft on the FERC models.
Could it be that the factory simply found that the FH sprocket fitted nicely, and no further work was required?

Re: wanted
I saw one for sale on eBay a few years ago. Clearly people knew what it was because the final price was gigantic, I think between £2-300.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Draganfly sell a pattern one.

Re: KH500 Lean Running Problems
There is no specific instruction to use a sealant for the Otto gasket, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to use some high temperature RTV around the pushrod tunnels to assist in preventing leaks.

Re: SQ4 only runs with choke
The easiest way to find an air leak (in my opinion) is to buy an aerosol can of brake cleaner and spray it all around any joints on the intake, if the revs increase, you have a leak, and you can pinpoint quite accurately with little sprays around the area. My personal thought with this particular pr...

Re: Ariel square 4 misfire
I’m running WR7BC on my 1948 4G. Bike runs perfectly when hot but misfires cold, which I need to get to the bottom of, I think it is carburation, never considered plug temperature setting, is it worth going up to an 8 or 9?

Re: Ariel square 4 misfire
I don’t use NGK plugs for exactly that reason, having had several issues with the plugs over the years, mostly due to the difficulty in finding genuine plugs!
I’ve used Bosch plugs for a long time now and had no issues.
